British Books in Bangkok
Well actually more than just British books... as Saturday morning saw me heading off to the annual Neilson Hays Library Book Sale.
About a 30 minute walk from home, I set off with my shopping trolley and had no trouble finding it. It was held on the grounds of the next door The British Club Bangkok. This was my first visit to either destination. Now I only have the Tokyo American Club to compare in terms of 'clubs', and so I was expecting something grand. However, what I experienced was quaint, historic and delightful!
The book sale itself was outside the main building under marques - please note my red and white shopping trolley :). Prices were reasonable and clearly marked and all books seemed to be in good condition. Picture books were definitely the most popular and even though I arrived just after opening, families already had boxes filled with titles for young readers. I did manage to find 1 fiction book and 1 non-fiction book for my nursery class.
As I usually only read British murder mystery novels and Jeffrey Archer's earlier work this was what I was on the hunt for. Success! 6 titles, only 3 I have read before.
The sale itself was smaller than I had envisioned but there was a plethora of quality titles. As such, it will go on the calendar again for next year!
